Drum therapy is a powerful and dynamic form of sound therapy that dates to the early Neolithic era associating ancient healing practices using the frame drum and other elemental sound frequencies for rhythm to promote deep healing. The rhythmic and repetitive sound produced by the frame drum can help to alleviate physical pain, release emotions and promote a sense of wellbeing.

Research shows that drumming can have a profound impact on the body and the mind. The rhythmic patterns can synchronise brain wave activity, leading to states of relaxation. Drumming has been found to release neurotransmitters and endorphins that help to reduce pain and elevate mood. Singing Buffalo Drumming Therapy is a truly transformational experience to help clear out the old and bring in the new.

A very personal and bespoke intuitive rhythmic healing experience is tailored to each client’s individual needs including the buffalo frame drum (affectional known as Drum George), rattles, seed shakers, monochord, rain sticks and the voice.

Clients remain fully clothed for the session and can either lie down on the therapy couch or sit in a comfortable chair.

Sessions are 90 minutes to allow plenty of time for you to relax, get the best of out the session and receive what you need to restore your energy.

The story of my drum

My frame drum, I made myself. The hoop is from the Ash tree and the skin is buffalo. After I made ‘birthed’ this beautiful drum, I found that I could not play it for some time; I struggled to connect to the spirit of the animal, the buffalo. I still felt strongly about this drum and knew that one day, when the time was right, we would connect and form a strong bond.

A few months later, shortly after my beloved Airedale Terrier George passed away, I went to a local women’s drumming circle and took the drum with me…just in case I felt drawn to connect to it. As soon as I picked it up, George’s spirit appeared to me in the village hall, he jumped and hopped around me in delight and freedom and as I started to play it, his spirit jumped into and passed right through the drum. It was a most profound, beautiful and incredibly emotional moment. I know that George’s spirit has blessed and infused this drum with his playful happy little self and unconditional love, so I named it Drum George. I have since connected to the spirit of the animal of the drum, who said it was waiting for George to blend with her energy to give me strength, protection, grounding, a powerful clearer of the path and deep connection to the energies of the earth. I am honoured every time I pick up this drum and play it or just hold it in silent knowing and mutual respect.
